Foreign Minister Kaljurand and her Andorran colleague discussed co-operation in the field of IT and in the UN


Meeting today in Tallinn with the Foreign Minister of Andorra Gilbert Saboya Sunyé, Foreign Minister Marina Kaljurand discussed co-operation in the field of IT and in the UN. The Foreign Minister of Andorra’s visit marks the first high-level Andorran visit to Estonia.

Kaljurand and Saboya discussed Association Agreement negotiations between Andorra and the European Union, which began last spring. “We are ready to give our support to ensure that the negotiations run smoothly,” Kaljurand added.

The Estonian and Andorran Foreign Ministers also discussed possibilities for cooperation in the United Nations and to support each other's candidacies in international organizations. “Estonia is a candidate for non-permanent member status in the UN Security Council in 2020-2021,” Foreign Minister Kaljurand said.

The Foreign Ministers also discussed solutions to the migration crisis. Andorra has declared its readiness to take in refugees.

Foreign Ministers Kaljurand and Saboya also discussed bilateral relations and possibilities for collaboration in the field of IT. Andorra has expressed interest in developments in Estonia’s IT sector. “We are more than ready to share our e-governance experiences with Andorra,” Foreign Minister Kaljurand said.
