Foreign Minister Keit Pentus-Rosimannus will travel to meet with the Foreign Minister of Ukraine

Foreign Minister Keit Pentus-Rosimannus will travel to Kyiv to meet with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin to discuss the latest developments in Ukraine and how Estonia can best support Ukraine through international organisations while the country is tackling rapid reforms.

The Foreign Minister’s working visit to Kyiv, focusing on discussions regarding the security situation, will take place on January 13 and 14. In addition to the Foreign Ministers’ meeting, a discussion has been scheduled with the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchyno, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Hanna Hopko and mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko.

During the working visit, a joint meeting of the Estonian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister is scheduled with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

Foreign Minister Keit Pentus-Rosimannus said that the aim of the visit is to show support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and the rapid start of its political and economic reforms, which are necessary for the country to move towards the European Union. “We continue to assist Ukraine in its nation-building and support them by sharing the experience gained from our own fairly recent reforms,” Foreign Minister Pentus-Rosimannus said.
